Your image, your desk.

This policy describes PIXELPRESS version 1.0.0, a local single-image resizing and format-conversion extension. The responsible publisher is the developer identified on the official Chrome Web Store listing. Use the contact method on that listing for product or privacy questions. The policy applies to the extension’s own code, not to every service involved in installing or running a browser.

The extension’s single purpose is to let you choose a still image, set output dimensions and format, inspect the actual encoded result, and download a new copy. There is no online account, cloud image library, collaboration system or subscription service in this release. Chrome, your operating system, the store and any separately hosted policy page have their own data practices.

PIXELPRESS processes your selected image locally using browser image-decoding and canvas-encoding APIs. The application does not send the source image, preview, output file, filename, file size, pixel dimensions or export settings to the publisher. It does not upload images for compression, use an AI image service or run an external optimization request in the background.

The interface’s “Local, not uploaded” statement describes application behavior. It does not mean that your browser, operating system, cloud-synced download folder, endpoint-security software or another person with access to your screen cannot see files. Choose a device and browser profile appropriate for the sensitivity of the image you are processing.

The application receives a File object when you explicitly select a file in the browser picker or drop a file into the page. It reads that file’s bytes, name and size, checks its format and dimensions, and asks the browser to decode it. It does not scan directories, enumerate your photo library or open neighboring files that you did not select.

Only one still PNG, JPEG or WebP is processed at a time. Input is limited to 25 MB, 32 megapixels and 16,384 pixels on either side. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected rather than silently flattened. Unsupported, truncated, over-limit or undecodable input is reported without intentionally replacing the valid image already on the desk.

An image can contain faces, identity documents, private messages, health information, addresses or other sensitive details in its visible pixels. PIXELPRESS does not classify those contents, perform optical character recognition, infer identities or extract a subject profile. It treats the selected content as an image to decode, resize and re-encode according to your instructions.

Local processing does not remove sensitive information that is drawn or photographed into the image. A resized copy of a document may still reveal the document’s contents. This product does not include redaction, anonymization, face blurring or verification that an output is safe to share. Review the visible output and its intended recipient before distributing a downloaded file.

The active tab holds the selected File, a decoded image bitmap, temporary canvas data, a local object URL for the original and an encoded output Blob with its preview URL. It also holds the current filename, dimensions, chosen settings and status messages. These objects support the preview and download workflow; they are not sent to an image-hosting service.

Changing or removing an image revokes the old object URLs and releases the application’s references to the old bitmap and output when they are no longer needed. Closing or reloading the tab discards the application’s active workspace. Browser memory management, temporary files, crash recovery and operating-system paging remain outside the application’s ability to promise immediate or cryptographically secure erasure.

The “Remember my export settings” checkbox is off by default. When you enable it, the extension stores a small preferences record containing the selected output MIME type, numeric quality, JPEG background color, aspect-ratio lock preference and a format-version number. It does not save the selected image, exported image, filename, previous dimensions or a list of processed files in that record.

This record uses browser localStorage under the key pixelpress.v1.preferences on the extension origin. The extension does not use chrome.storage, IndexedDB, sync storage or a remote database. Stored settings apply to future openings of this application in the same browser profile. Open tabs hold their own current settings; this is not a live multi-user preference synchronization system.

Unchecking “Remember my export settings” attempts to remove the stored preference record. Your currently selected settings can remain in memory for this tab until you reset them, change them or close the page. The “Reset settings” control removes the remembered record, disables remembering and restores this release’s default export preferences. Neither action deletes source or downloaded files.

Saved settings are validated when the page starts. If an existing record is unreadable, the extension uses default settings and displays a warning instead of failing to open the workspace. Reset settings is the explicit recovery route. If browser storage cannot be read or written, preferences may not persist even though image processing itself can still work.

The manifest does not declare permissions or host_permissions. It does not request activeTab, scripting, browser history, clipboard, download-management, notifications or broad website access. Its toolbar action opens its own packaged studio page in a new tab. A small local service worker handles that click and does not read image files or inspect existing tabs.

There are no content scripts or a new-tab replacement. The extension does not read the URL, title or body of the website you were viewing, and does not inject editing tools into webpages. The file picker and drag-and-drop operations give the application the files you explicitly choose; they do not grant a directory-scanning capability or general file-system permission.

All application code, icons and styling are shipped inside the extension. PIXELPRESS contains no HTTP image endpoint, remote compression API, analytics SDK, external font download, advertising embed or executable-code loader. The content security policy disallows application connections and permits scripts only from the packaged extension. The product does not need internet access for its supported image workflow.

Chrome may separately communicate with Google or other browser services for extension updates, store operations, security checks or browser-managed downloads. Those operations are not an image upload initiated by PIXELPRESS. The extension does not control all browser networking and this policy does not replace the policies of the browser, network operator or managed device.

The browser decodes the selected image and its orientation before output pixels are drawn. For supported JPEGs, orientation can change the displayed width and height from the unrotated file header. The exporter draws the decoded pixels into a new canvas; it does not copy original EXIF, GPS, comments, author tags or other source metadata fields into a new file by design.

The browser encoder may add its own output information, such as color-space or resolution-related metadata. This is not a forensic metadata-sanitization guarantee and the extension does not generate a complete metadata audit. It also does not promise preservation of print-color profiles, archival metadata or exact color-management behavior across browsers. Visible information embedded in pixels remains part of the output.

An export preview is created from the encoded output Blob, not from a fabricated screenshot or a predicted file size. The displayed byte count is the size of that Blob. File-size reduction is not guaranteed: an output can be larger than the source, and the interface reports that situation. Quality settings apply to JPEG and WebP; PNG uses lossless encoding without a quality slider.

PNG and WebP can preserve transparency in supported input. JPEG cannot preserve transparency, so the chosen background color is drawn before the image. Export dimensions are limited to 8,192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels total. Large inputs are initially fitted to those output limits. Processing near the limits can temporarily occupy device resources and does not imply unlimited capacity.

When you click Download image, the extension creates a normal browser download request using a local Blob URL and a suggested filename based on the original name, chosen dimensions and output extension. It does not overwrite the selected file through a file-system API. The browser decides the save destination, duplicate-name handling, download permissions and any save prompt or restriction.

Once downloaded, the output is a normal file outside the extension’s workspace. It may be indexed, backed up, synchronized or shared by other software according to your folder and device settings. PIXELPRESS cannot retrieve, track, recall or delete those copies. Clearing the workspace, resetting preferences or uninstalling the extension does not erase files you already downloaded.

This release contains no automatic analytics, session replay, fingerprinting, behavioral advertising, cross-site tracking, image recognition service or crash-report uploader. It does not build a processing-history list for the publisher, record how many photographs you resize, or send the selected quality and dimensions as usage telemetry. There is no advertising identifier or online image account.

Technical problems are shown locally when the application can detect them. The developer does not receive an automatic copy of the failure, its image or the browser console. If you contact support, describe the issue with the minimum information needed. A voluntarily supplied attachment is a separate disclosure and should not contain an image you do not intend the recipient to access.

PIXELPRESS does not use a third-party processing SDK, cloud-storage provider, social-login platform or paid image-optimization service. Its decoding and encoding functions are supplied by the browser. System font names use fonts available on the device. No external party receives an image feed through an integration built into this extension, and there is no application feature for selling or licensing image data.

The developer has no remote administration panel that retrieves local images, settings or downloads from this release. A browser vendor, employer, device administrator, antivirus product or other installed software may operate separately with its own access and policies. The absence of an embedded third-party integration does not make a shared or managed computer a private environment.

The source and current preview are intended to live only in the open workspace. The Remove image button releases that workspace’s selected-image references and disables download. Reloading or closing the tab also removes the active application state rather than creating an image library. Local preferences remain until you opt out, reset them, or the browser’s extension data is cleared or removed.

Keep the original image until you have inspected the output and saved any copy you need. The extension does not provide file recovery, undo after closing a tab or cloud backups. For complete deletion, consider each location separately: the original file, downloaded copies, optional local preferences and any external backups. Only the preference record is managed as persistent application data by this version.

The application checks file signatures and dimensions, bounds allocation sizes, validates saved settings and uses locally packaged scripts. Unsupported input and failed encoding should leave a current valid image available rather than substitute an invalid export. These measures reduce accidental misuse and failures, but no image decoder or browser environment can be guaranteed immune to every malformed file or device problem.

The extension does not add application-level encryption, a password, secure disk wiping or a protected image container. Other software or someone with sufficient access to the profile, memory, screen or file folders may inspect information. Use trusted files and a trusted device, keep the browser updated, and avoid assuming that an ordinary local browser tab offers the protections of a specialized secure document system.

The interface does not ask for a user’s age or identity and does not intentionally collect identifying information from children through a registration or marketing flow. Image handling is the same for every user. This does not certify suitability for every educational, legal or regulated use, and it does not determine whether a particular image may lawfully or appropriately be shared.

Parents, guardians, schools and administrators should manage extension use and local file handling according to their needs. On a shared browser profile, remembered settings can affect another person’s next session and downloaded files may be visible to others. The application does not create separate child or family accounts, access-control roles, parental reports or a private shared-computer gallery.

This policy is effective September 8, 2026 and describes version 1.0.0. A future release that adds stored images, a network service, new recipients or additional permissions should be accompanied by updated policy text and accurate store disclosures. This policy is not advance authorization for such features, and its packaged HTML does not contact a server to check for updates.

For support or privacy requests, use the developer contact method shown on the official PIXELPRESS Chrome Web Store listing and include the product version. The publisher must maintain a valid listing contact when distributing the product. No unverified email address is invented in this policy. The developer cannot remotely retrieve or erase a workspace that exists only in your browser; use the local controls and your file manager for on-device deletion.
